CITY VS VILLA!!! Let's Goooo

Surprise Tuesday Match!! Champions League on the line. šŸ“ØMatchweek 34/38

Good Morning,

And welcome to a special edition of The Prem Report. Special for two reasons:

1st because it’s an unusual Tuesday matchup featuring two big teams.
2nd because… I forgot to check the schedule last night and I’m totally rushing out this post. Thanks to the hundreds of thousands* of loyal subscribers who emailed me this morning saying things like:

ā€œWhere’s my Prem Report email!!?ā€ - Anonymous Reader

ā€œHow will I ever know who’s playing if I don’t get an email from the Prem Report!?? Unacceptable I want my money back!! - Disgruntled Reader

ā€œGabe are you ok? I noticed the Prem Report didn’t arrive this morning so I figured something must have happened to you and I care about you deeply and wanted to let you know that YOU ARE ENOUGH.ā€ -Gabes Mom

Thankfully I found out with just enough to waste 15 mins putting together a Lord of the Rings Meme, you’re welcome. Enjoy!
-Gabe

Match

šŸ”„ Headline Match: Manchester City vs. Aston Villa

šŸŸļø Etihad Stadium | šŸ•— 8:00 PM BST / 12:00 PM PT

🄪 Man City Sandwiched
City sit 5th on 58 points just one point ahead of Villa and Chelsea and one behind Newcastle. They will be feeling the squeeze every match now. After a 2–0 win over Everton, Pep’s side look like they’re stabilizing… but they have been a shadow of their former selves this season. Haaland’s still out…which won’t help anything. (Arsenal fans please stop snickering)

🦁
Unai Emery’s men are coming in hot after a 4–1 dismantling of Newcastle. They're just one point off City and would leapfrog them and Newcastle all the way into 4th place with a win today. Villa actually beat City 2–1 earlier this season and they’ll believe they can do it again. Ollie Watkins is flying high after his MOTM performance on Saturday. He scored 30 seconds into the game….let’s see if he can top that today.

🌳 Villa Loves Springtime:
Villa are playing lights out footy at the moment, just look at their games from the month of April: 3-0 Win vs Brighton, 2-1 Win vs Forest, 0-3 Win vs Southampton, 3-2 Win vs PSG, 4-1 Win vs Newcastle! (the did lose once this month to PSG in their first leg of the Champions League 3-1)

šŸŒ UCL Implications

This one’s massive.
With Arsenal and Liverpool pulling away, the final three Champions League spots, are up for grab from 5 teams. Forest, Newcastle, City, Chelsea, Villa. Most of whom will It’s going to be a BRUTAL finish to the season and all 5 teams have a chance. They all will play at least one of the other 4 team teams in contention from now till the end of the season.

  • A City win gives them breathing room and momentum with an easy run-in.

  • A Villa win puts them 4th and piles the pressure on absolutley everyone else.

It’s getting heat is cranking here at the end of the season, someone’s going to have to get out of the kitchen.
