📨Matchweek 35/38 Chelsea's guard of honor, Vardy becomes a ref.

Good Morning,
As the season nears its end, we say goodbye to the Premier League's relegated teams and say thanks for the memories. Getting relegated from the Premier League is kind of like getting voted off Survivor… except instead of walking away with a heartfelt montage and Jeff Probst's sympathy, you lose all your best players and lose 40% in TV revenue.

🔥 Match of the Day: Chelsea vs Liverpool
🏟️ Stamford Bridge | 🕓 4:30 PM BST / 8:30 AM PST
Chelsea hosts newly crowned champions Liverpool in a high-stakes encounter. The Blues are vying for a Champions League spot, currently sitting fifth with 60 points, level with Nottingham Forest, but ahead on goal difference. Liverpool, having secured the title, are expected to rotate their squad, providing opportunities for players like Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott to impress.
Key Storylines:
Champions League Push: With the top four within reach, Chelsea can jump up to 4th place with a win and a Newcastle loss.
Hard to Play in May: The Reds’ last league defeat during the month of May was a 1-0 win for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in 2018.
Streak: Chelsea are currently on a ten-game winless streak against Liverpool — their longest stretch without a victory in this fixture since they went 11 games without a win between 1985 and 1990.

⚔️ Sar-cas-tic-clap

This Sunday’s match at Stamford Bridge will feature more than just a bunch of millionaires kicking a ball around a field. Before kickoff, Chelsea will line up and applaud the newly-crowned champions Liverpool in a traditional guard of honor. Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed the gesture in his press conference, saying, “They won the league, so they deserve that... and hopefully we can be there very soon.”
For those who don’t know, the guard of honor is an informal tradition in the Premier League where the title-winning side walks through a corridor of applauding opponents who aren’t smiling. While it’s not required by any official rules, it’s seen as a show of sportsmanship and respect.
The first-ever PL guard of honor reportedly happened back in 2003, when Everton honored Sir Alex Ferguson’s United at Goodison Park. Since then, Leicester, City, and now Liverpool have all received the treatment. Liverpool still holds the record for most guards of honor in a single season, with seven in 2019/20 🙄.
